The Kansas City Chiefs are one of two undefeated teams left in the National Football League.

Their defense continues to excel, and even though they’re pretty banged up on offense, they somehow manage to get the job done.

Nonetheless, they haven’t blown their opponents off of the field by any means.

They’ve won all games by a single possession, and they could’ve lost at least three of their first four games.

Notably, plenty of that has had to do with Patrick Mahomes’ play.

The defending Super Bowl MVP has six touchdown passes and five interceptions through four games, and he just hasn’t been up to standards.

That’s why Rob Parker believes he’s currently not a top-five quarterback in the game.

As great as he is, Parker states that numbers-wise, he’s just not near the top of the league at the moment.

He went as far as to call him the “James Harden in reverse,” in the sense that he has been pedestrian in the regular season over the past couple of years before elevating his game in the playoffs, which is the opposite of what Harden does.

Truth be told, the fact that Mahomes is currently the odds-on favorite to win MVP proves that the award is narrative-based.

Mahomes currently ranks 11th in the league in passing yards (904) and has an 89.7 passer rating.

He might be the most talented quarterback in the game, but numbers don’t lie, and he’s not playing up to that distinction right now.

Even so, we should know better than to count him out.
